Star Wars meets Call of Duty (Game mod of the week)

In Game mods on November 7, 2012 at 7:43 pm

The ultra-mega-large Star Wars franchise has been more the talk then usual recently, thanks to last week’s shock announcement that Disney had purchased LucasArts, the company which owns the rights to all the Star Wars property.

Furthermore three new Star Wars films for the series are already on the cards, with episode VII marked for a 2015 release and two more entries arriving within the following four years.

With Disney’s purchase in mind, Gaming Kick surveyed the internet to find whether Star Wars gamers could mesh its beloved series with other franchises owned by Disney.

However despite our best searching efforts, sadly no mods could be found which can allow you to fight the evil Sith as Mickey Mouse, Dappy Duck or even as Buzz Lightyear.

So instead we’ll focus on an all together different but very interesting mod for the first-person shooter Call of Duty 4, one which enters you into the Star Wars universe.

The Galactic Warfare mod is accessible in the Call of Duty 4 multiplayer section, allowing you to fight through recognisable locations from the Star Wars universe as either the Rebel Alliance or as a stormtrooper in the Imperial Forces. In ways it’s certainly similar to the Star Wars Battlefront series.

Featuring appropriate sound effects, laser blasters and even tie fighters, but combining the controls and gameplay of the popular Call of Duty franchise, Galactic Warfare mod is a detailed and convincing conversion mod available to download now.

Don’t expect any Tactical Nukes in this mod however, although a tactical Death Star wouldn’t go amiss either!

Next week Call of Duty fans can get their hands on the next official entry in this particular series, Black Ops II, which carries more of a sci-fi element then ever before with its near-future setting.
